“Hotel is a company managed by its owner by providing food and beverage services and room facilities to people who are traveling and are able to pay a reasonable amount in accordance with the services received without any special agreement.”
“Hotel is a commercial business that provides food, stays and other services to the public.”
“Hotel is a type of accommodation that uses part or all of a building to provide food and beverage lodging services and other supporting services to the public that are managed commercially.”

PS: Especially for five-stars hotel they have own levels that is Palm, Bronze and Diamond. 

Business Hotel.
A hotel that usually used for businessman and also have complete facilities for businessman. 
Recreational Hotel.
A hotel made for purpose of people who are going to leisure or recreation.
City Hotel.
A hotel that located in the city, and most of the guests do some business activity.
Resort Hotel.
A hotel that located in tourism area, and most of the guests do some leisure and recreation activity.
Suburb Hotel.
A hotel that located in the edge of town.
Urban Hotel.
A hotel that located in the countryside and far from big city.
Airport Hotel.
A hotel that located within one airport complex or surrounding.

1.European Plan.
A hotel that apply fees paid for renting rooms only.
2.American Plan.
A hotel that apply fees paid for rooms and meal prices. American Plan divided into 2, there are:
a.Full American Plan (FAP).
  Room prices include with 3x meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
b.Modified American Plan (MAP).
  Room prices include with 2x meals (breakfast+lunch or breakfast+dinner).
3.Continental Plan.
A hotel that apply fees paid for rooms include a continental breakfast (all menu without egg).
4.Bermuda Plan.
A hotel that apply fees paid for rooms include a American breakfast (all menu contains egg). 

1.Transit Hotel.
A hotel that usually use for guest who stay overnight.
2.Semi-residential Hotel.
A hotel that use for guest who stay more than 1 night but the time period is also short.
3.Residential Hotel.
A hotel that use for guest who stay more than 1 month.

Business
a. Conference Hotel is a hotel that provide complete facilities for conference.
b. Convention Hotel is a hotel as part of complex convention activity.
Worship
a. Pilgrim Hotel is a hotel that have a function as a facility for worship. 
For example a hotels in Arab.
Gambling
a. Casino Hotel is a hotel that have a function as a gambling activity.
Family Hotel
Guests who stay with their family.
Business Hotel
Guests who stay are businessman.
Tourist Hotel
Guests who stay are tourist, they are domestic and international tourists.
Cure Hotel
Guests who stay overnight in the process of treatment or healing an illness.

Hotel Management
Hotel management is an activity of organizing a hotel business based on management concepts and functions. The management and competition strategy will be related to the following efforts:
1. Improved manager's ability to use management, management techniques that can increase sales volume, reduce production failure rates (such as room cancellation or no show rates).
2. Increase service productivity.
3. Expand market penetration.
